Purchase some batik products at the Local Traditional Market in Solo City. Experience the stunning Buddhist complex, Borobudur, a ten-terraces building. Observe Komodo dragons in their natural habitat on the islands of Rinca and Komodo. Explore the craftsmanship, spirituality, and healing in Ubud between the many craft villages, breathtaking temples, and healing centers. Watch the sunset over the Indian Ocean at the spectacular Tanah Lot Sea Temple. And relax on the beautiful beaches of Nusa Dua.  
 
 

Day 1, November 8, Thursday - USA/Jakarta
Depart the USA gateway city via Cathay Pacific Airways Jakarta. En route, cross the International Dateline.

Day 2, November 9, Friday - Jakarta
Arrive at Soekorno Hatta Airport in Indonesia's capital Jakarta and transfer to your hotel. (Alila Hotel)

Day 3, November 10, Saturday - Jakarta/Solo
After breakfast, enjoy a half-day tour beginning with a walk through Freedom Square National Museum, which houses the worlds largest collection of Southeast Asian ceramics and Javanese Hindu Art. The museum houses collections of prehistoric, ethnographic and archaeological artifacts. See Jakarta's best known landmark, the National Monument in the center of the museum. Then, visit the old port, Sunda Kelapa, which is a bustling hub for inter-island trade. After lunch, fly to Solo, center of art and education and full of charming, soft-spoken people, and transfer to your hotel. (Lor In Hotel) (B/L)

 

Day 4, November 11, Sunday - Solo/Jogkarta
In the morning, after breakfast, begin a full-day tour of the city. Visit the Royal Mangkunegaran Palace to look through this museum and art and cultural center. Walk through the Local Traditional Market to purchase some batik products and other Indonesian products. Experience the beautiful central Javanese countryside of Jogjakarta. Enjoy lunch at a local restaurant before seeing a 9th century temple, Prambanan Hindus temple. Transfer to your hotel. (Sheraton Mustika Hotel) (B/L)

Day 5, November 12, Monday - Jogjakarta
After breakfast, explore the main attraction, Sultan Palace, better known as Kraton Ngayogyakarta. This complex holds the main palace, residences for sultan and queen, and large quarters for servants. Also visit Kotagede, the capital of ancient Islamic Mataram kingdom and see the tomb of Mataram Kingdoms first king, Panembahan Senopati. Kotagede represents Javanese architecture and city structure. See Tamansari, the Water Castle, adorned with Javanese ornaments. It consists of the Sacred Room, a Bathing Pool for the Sultans family, an artificial island, Kenanga or Cemeti Island, canals, and an extremely large swimming pool. Enjoy afternoon tea at Plataran Borobudur, before experiencing the spectacular Buddhist Temple complex, Borobudur, constructed as a ten-terraced building. The first six are square, the two upper terraces are circular, and the top is the terrace where the Buddha statue faces westward. Each terrace symbolizes the stage of human life, and in order to get to the Buddha, you must go through the life stages. Kamadhatu, the base is a human being bound by lust. The upper four, Rupadhatu, symbolize human beings that have set themselves free from lust, but bound by appearance and shape. The other upper three, Arupadhatu, are free from lust, appearance, and shape. The top, Arupa, is nirvana, where Buddha resides. Then, see three statues at the Mendut Temple; Cakyamuni, sitting cross legged, turning the wheel of dharma; Awalokiteswara, a human being helper; and Maitreya, savior of human beings in the future. Tonight, enjoy a Javanese dinner with dance performance. (B/D)

 

Day 6, November 13, Tuesday - Jogjakarta/Rinca Island
After breakfast, fly east to the center of Indonesia archipelago and arrive at Labuan Bajo on the island of Flores. Then Transfer to pier for a boat ride to Rinca Island, a small island not too far away from Komodo Island and less visited, which makes seeing the dragon in its natural habitat much easier. Trek a short distance to view the Komodo Dragons, the largest living lizard that can be measured up to 10 feet long. Along your trek, view other wildlife like wild pigs, buffalos, and plenty of birds. Overnight on board.

Day 7, November 14, Wednesday - Rinca Island/Komodo Island
Sail to World Heritage site, Komodo Island, known for the Komodo dragons and excellent diving. Upon arrival, follow the trail to Banunggulung, the dragons former feeding ground, where you can observe the dragons. Visit Komodo Nature Park Museum. Relax on the beautiful pink-colored sandy beaches of Pantai Merah (Pink Beach), and experience the beautiful coral garden. Swim in the water or snorkel with the amazing underwater life. Day 8, November 15, Thursday - Komodo Island/Ubud, Bali
After breakfast, enjoy the morning at your leisure to explore the island and visit a limestone cave. Fly to Denpasar on the idyllic island of Bali. Upon arrival transfer to Ubud village in the center of the island. (Aniniraka Hotel) (B)

Day 9, November 16, Friday - Bali
After breakfast, enjoy a full-day tour, beginning with the Batubulan villages, considered craft villages and popular for stone carvings. In the villages, experience a Barong and Kris Balinese Dance, a story of the battle between good and evil. In Celuk, look at the beautiful silver jewelry and see the wood carving in MAS. Then visit Penelokan and Kintamani for stunning panoramic views of Mount Batur, set in a huge volcanic crater basin and Lake Batur. Enjoy a nice lunch at a local restaurant. Then visit the traditional villages of Bangli, full of its own unique architecture, Penglipuran and home to mountain lakes, rice terraces, lush valleys and forests. (B/L)

 
 

Day 10, November 17, Saturday - Ubud/Nusa Dua Beach, Bali
Enjoy the morning at your leisure to explore the city of Ubud and all it offers. Enjoy a nice yoga class, cooking class, or spa experience at your own expense. Or wander along the markets, exploring the beautiful handmade crafts. In the afternoon, take a tour to view the Ayung River from Sayan, while enjoying tea at the Royal Pitamaha. Walk through Ubuds Local Art Traditional Market, which is full of wood carvings, batik shirts, sarongs, and more. Visit the Holy Spring Temple in Sebatu Village, one of the the most important and beautiful temples in Bali. Sebatu Village is known for inspiring creativity of the villagers like creating beautiful woodcarvings. View the stunning rice terraces in Tegallalang Village and also view the handicraft there. Then, see the Royal Temple of Taman Ayun at Mengwi, surrounded by a wide moat, creating the sensation of standing in the middle of a lake. It has three ascending courtyards, which represent an increasing level of perfection in Bali Hindu cosmos. Then, arrive in Tanah Lot Sea Temple, built on a rocky islet in the Indian Ocean. Watch the sunset over the water. This tour ends at Nusa Dua Beach and check in to your hotel on the beach. (Grand Mirages Resort) (B/L)

 

Day 11, November 18, Sunday - Nusa Dua, Bali
After breakfast, explore Nusa Dua at your leisure. Relax on the striking sandy white beaches, like Geger Beach, which is safe for swimming. The beach has a nice cooling breeze and some of the warmest water temperatures, making it an ideal beach to visit. Or take an optional tour, like Uluwatu Temple and Kecak Dance with or without dinner.

Day 12, November 19, Monday - Nusa Dua/USA
After breakfast, transfer to the airport for your return flight. Arrive the States the same day. Or, you may take an extension to Hong Kong.

A morning sightseeing tour introduces you to the highlights of this bustling city including Stanley Market, Aberdeen's floating restaurants and sampan dwellers, and a panoramic view of city and harbor from atop Victoria Peak. Afternoon free. (B)

Day 14, November 21, Wednesday - Hong Kong/USA
